How to improve teaching practices
using power point.
- The use of visual aid in any classroom setting is a helpful tool to influence student’s interest. In this age of technology, learners listening capacity is diminutive ,where students’ span of attention is 5 minutes or the longest is 10 minutes. PowerPoint is indeed a great tool for learning; that is if teachers concern for students’ learning is clear. Using PowerPoint will always depend on the one preparing the content of the presentation; the heart of the message is important, added clips or any animations are just motion to capture audience impact but then a condense information that explicitly presents the content or substance of the subject is all that matter for learners.
- Too much use of PowerPoint could also abuse the mind and tire the eyes; it would already serve as boredom. I think the teacher has to know when and which topic has to be presented. And, since it is a teacher –student directed situation, an interactive discussion on the slides would develop critical thinking and add to learning.
- ·PowerPoint is just one of the means to arrive a certain goal in education; a skilled teacher must be able to determine its effectivity. So, let PowerPoint be at its best usage, at the right time, and the right points to empower learning.
